Alright, what's up everyone, Dex here! Today we're diving into the classic 4-3-2-1 formation, a real blast from the past that's making a comeback in EA FC. This isn't just about pinging the ball around with short passes, it's about controlling the game, keeping possession, and thinking outside the box. It's about creating those moments where your opponent thinks they know what you're going to do, but you've already got another play brewing to break them down. Let's get into it!
Formation and Player Roles
The 4-3-2-1 is all about those attacking options, especially with the new CAMs that have pace, shooting, and dribbling. You don't want your CAMs to just be CAMs, you want them playing like wide forwards. With all the Team of the Season cards coming out, you're going to be flooded with players perfect for this role.
- Striker: Advanced Forward and Support. This gives your striker the freedom to roam a bit, left or right.
- Left and Right CAMs: Shadow Striker instructions. This is key! They'll make those inverted runs inside, acting as temporary strikers.
- Left and Right CMs: One Playmaker and Attack, one Box-to-Box. You could go with two playmakers or two box-to-box players, but if you go double playmaker, make sure one is on Roaming. This is crucial to avoid them occupying the same space and colliding in attack.
- Central CM: Deep Lying Playmaker and Defend. Since we don't have a CDM in this formation, this player needs to stay back for defensive cover and counterattacks, while still contributing to the passing plays.
- Fullbacks: Stay Back While Attacking and Defend.
- Center Backs: Defend.
- Goalkeeper: Sweeper Keeper.
Tactics
Let's get into the tactics that will make this formation shine.
- Build Up Play: Balanced.
- Defensive Style: Aggressive with 95 Depth. If you're not comfortable with that, you can go with Balanced.
That's the gist of it! This formation is all about creating those opportunities and catching your opponent off guard.
