Alright lads, let's dive into these 4-1-4-1 custom tactics that have been absolutely crushing it for me. I've got two variations for you, so let's get into it!
Variation 1: The Balanced Beast
This tactic, created by my mate Alexian IQ (links in the description, go check him out!), has really surprised me. It's built around a balanced build-up style and a defensive approach set to 70. The 4-1-4-1 formation is known for its defensive solidity, and this tactic is no different. Even though it might look a bit crazy when you're attacking, the passing options, especially in midfield and wide areas, are unreal. It allows you to unpick defenses and play some really fluid, natural football.
- Key Players:
- CDM: Someone who can sit back and play like a center back. I've been using Patrick Guaro here, and she's amazing. Her long passing ability allows you to quickly switch play to either winger or drive forward into midfield.
- Playmakers: I've been using playmakers like Bonmati and Guaro in central midfield. They're top-tier in these positions.
Variation 2: The False Back Masterclass
This is my favorite version, and it's all about the false back. Again, the codes for these tactics will be in the description and the comments.
-
Build-up and Defense: Balanced build-up style and a defensive approach set to 70. Use whatever depth you're comfortable with, but I like between 61 and above.
-
Defensive Shape: When defending, the 4-1-4-1 will look like this, but when attacking, it kind of looks like this. You get a lot of solid defensive cover in the middle while the rest of your team pushes forward.
-
Key Benefit: The main benefit of this formation is the width it provides. You can really attack those wide areas.
-
Striker: I recommend a striker who can pass. I tried P in the striker position for both variations, and I wasn't a fan. I brought in Griezmann, and he's a joke. Finesse Shot Plus is insane, but the main thing is his passing ability. He's great in the build-up and amazing for this formation because everything moves around.
- Passing Ability: You need players who can pass well. They don't need to be as good as Griezmann, but if they have mid-80s passing, you'll be set.
Player Instructions and Team Selection
Let's get into the team selection and player instructions.
- Center Backs: Always go for the best defenders possible. They're going to help you a lot.
- Fullbacks: For the false back variation, you need fullbacks who can play football. Don't use Kounde; he's too heavy on the ball and can't really pass. If they have over 80 passing and are decent on the ball, you're good to go. Jordi Alba is amazing on the false back.
- CDM: You can use whatever you're most comfortable with. I love Patri in this role. She doesn't have the Plus or Plus Plus, but she still performs very well. She's almost playing like a quarterback because she has long ball pass and really good defensive stats. She can stick a tackle in when we're attacking, but she's able to ping the pass left and right for me, and it really does open up the play.
- Center Mids: I recommend players who are predominantly attacking but can stick a tackle in. Bonmati is amazing. I've been using Gaby all weekend, and he is very good. Payas is phenomenal. She can stick a tackle in, and I put a Guardian on her as well, so she does tackle really cleanly when I'm controlling her.
- Wingers: I definitely recommend bags of pace. You want them to be good on the ball and able to ping a pass.
- Striker: If it's a single striker, you want them to be able to pass the ball. Griezmann is a joke. He's got the Incisive Pass, so he's able to create for us as well.
That's the 4-1-4-1, two variations. Check out Alexian IQ; he makes really unique and different tactics.
