Alright, what's up, YouTube! It's Friday, which means it's time for a fresh set of custom tactics for you. Today, we're diving into the 4-4-2, which you can see right on your screen. Let's get into it!

Tactical Setup: The 4-4-2 Flat

We're going with the 4-4-2 flat variation. It's a very, very, very good formation.

  • Build Up Play: Balanced. Counter is a viable option, and I think even actually in the 442 because it is not as good as it was pre patch but it is still my personal favorite formation to use. I absolutely love the 442. If you are struggling defensively in the 442 maybe give counter a go on that buildup sty but for me is of course balanc
  • Defensive Style: Balanced.
  • Width: 50.
  • Depth: 50. I keep my line height at 50 to avoid getting caught out by those over-the-top through balls, especially if you're playing against someone who knows how to use them.

Player Instructions: Fine-Tuning Your Squad

Let's break down the player roles:

  • Left Striker: Advanced Forward and Support. This striker will drop a bit deeper, playing more like a "9 and a half," occupying that space between the number 10 and the number 9. They'll still make runs in behind.
  • Right Striker: Advanced Forward and Attack. This striker will be the main man up top, always looking to get in behind the defense.
  • Left Midfielder & Right Midfielder: Inside Forward and Balanced. I want my wingers making penetrating runs towards the strikers, getting into those positions for finesse shots.
  • Left Central Midfielder: Playmaker and Attack.
  • Right Central Midfielder: Box to Box. If you're struggling defensively, you could consider using a Holding midfielder here.
  • Right Back: Full Back and Defend.
  • Left Back: Full Back and Defend. On this new patch defending is a lot harder I'm a firm believer of always having one of your fullbacks helping out in attack so maybe give it a go on balance but me at this moment in time now I actually leave both the left back and the right back on fullback and defend to help us out defensively
  • Center Backs: Defender and Defend.
  • Goalkeeper: Balanced. Sweeper Keeper is irrelevant for me. I've used both and I think they're both absolutely the same.

That's the setup, folks! Good luck in the Weekend League!
