4-2-3-1 Wide: The Ultimate Tactic

This video is all about the 4-2-3-1 wide formation. If you haven't tried it, or even if you have, stick around because I'm going to break down the best way to use it.

Tactical Setup: The Blueprint

Let's dive into the tactics.

  • Build Up Play & Defensive Approach: Balanced.
  • Defensive Line Depth: 60. This is a sweet spot for me.
  • Goalkeeper: Sweeper Keeper.
  • Right Back: Fullback and Balanced.
  • Center Backs: Defender and Defend.
  • Left Back: Attacking Wing Back. This is where the magic starts!
  • CDMs: Holding. They stay back and protect the defense.
  • CAM: Playmaker. I always look for a CAM who can build up play.
    • Example: I use a cheap card, but he's used by so many pros because he has good playstyles, like Long Ball Plus, which is deadly.
  • Left & Right Mids: Inside Forward. This is key to the attacking style.
  • Striker: Advanced Forward.

Attacking Style: Ticky Taka and Overlaps

This formation allows for a Ticky Taka build-up on the left side. The left back makes a lot of runs, and once you get inside, you'll have four players close to each other, which allows you to play quick passing.

  • Left Side Focus: The left mid and left back create overlaps and inside runs. This creates a 2v1 situation that's hard to defend.
  • Inside Play: The main thing is getting inside because you will have four players in the middle of the pitch.
  • L1 Triangle Passes: The CAM allows you to play L1 triangle passes whenever you want. This, combined with the Ticky Taka, is a deadly combination.

Defensive Prowess: Solid and Reliable

Defensively, this formation is one of the best in the game.

  • CDM Protection: The CDMs stay in front of the center backs, so you're not vulnerable to counterattacks.
  • Fullback Support: The right back is on Fullback and Balanced, so he won't push up too much.
  • Left Back Recovery: The left back is quick enough to cover from the counterattack.
  • Counterattack Defense: You won't get into too many problems in a counterattack.
  • Patient Buildup: If your opponent takes a longer buildup, it will be really tough to break down because the left mid, right mid, and CAM will also drop back to defend.

This formation is just really solid. Give it a try!
