Tactical Setup: The 4-3-3 Attack
This formation is all about patience, passing, and unpredictability. It's a real game-changer if you take your time and let the plays develop.
Build-Up Play
- Build Up: Balanced. This is crucial. We're not going for quick counter-attacks or short passes. We want to control the tempo and break down the defense methodically.
- Defensive Approach: You can set this to whatever you're comfortable with. 50 is a good starting point for a balanced approach.
Player Instructions: The Heart of the Formation
This is where things get interesting. The player instructions are what make this formation tick.
- Striker: Advanced Forward and Attack. The recent addition of the support focus to the advanced forward role is a great addition.
- CAM: Playmaker Plus and Balanced Focus. This is the key to unlocking the formation's potential. The CAM needs to be in the right spot to receive the pass, not too deep, not too high up the pitch. This is how the pros score goals.
- Gameplay Tip: When receiving the ball with your CAM, quickly trigger your striker to run with the L1 button, then instantly send a first-time through ball from your playmaker to your goal scorer. Practice the timing, and you'll be getting one-on-ones every time.
- PlayStyle Plus: Incisive Pass or Long Ball Pass are great options for your CAM.
- Wingers: Inside Forward and Balanced. We want them cutting inside to maximize their involvement in the final third. They're key for chance creation and scoring.
- Central Midfielders: Box to Box Plus+. Ideally, you'd want a box-to-box next to a playmaker.
- PlayStyle Plus: Having some sort of passing or shooting PlayStyle Plus on your central midfielders takes this formation from good to elite.
- Alternative: If you prefer a more passive option, you can use a holding or defensive playmaker on one side and a playmaker or box-to-box on the other.
- Fullbacks:
- Defensive Fullback: Stay Back While Attacking. We want them to tuck in and provide defensive stability.
- Attacking Fullback: Fullback and Defend. This is the safe and reliable option. However, you can also use Wing Back and Balance to get some overlaps going on the left side.
- Center Backs: Defender and Defend. Standard stuff here.
- Goalkeeper: Sweeper Keeper and Build Up. Whatever PlayStyle Plus or Plus Plus your goalkeeper has, use it.
