Alright lads, here are the top five tactics I'm using right now to dominate in Weekend League. Let's get into it!
4-4-1-1: The Balanced Beast
First up, the 4-4-1-1. This is probably my favorite formation right now, it's just so nice for building up play. I do have a 4-4-2 on the channel, but this one is my go-to. Remember, you can always tweak these formations and make them your own.
- Defensive Approach: High
- Build Up Play: Balanced
- Team Shape: Sweeper Keeper, two center backs on Defender and Defend, both fullbacks on Fullback Defend.
- Midfield: One box-to-box midfielder.
- CAM: This is the most important player in the team, the one who pulls everything together. You want your best player here.
- Striker: Advanced Forward. This card is sneaky good, lads. The finishing is outrageous.
- Wingers: Right Mid on Winger and Balanced, Left Mid on Inside Forward and Balanced.
4-5-1: The Attacking Option
Next up, the 4-5-1. We've made some tweaks since we posted this on the channel a few weeks ago. This one is a bit more attacking than the 4-4-1-1.
- Defensive Approach: 75
- Build Up Play: Balanced
- Team Shape: Sweeper Keeper, Defenders on Defender and Defend, Left and Right Back on Fullback Defend.
- Midfield: Left and Right Center Mids on Playmaker. I recommend having a left-footed player on the left and a right-footed player on the right for those sweet driven crosses. Center Center Mid on Deep Line Playmaker. You want someone good at tackling here to break up attacks.
- Wingers: Left Mid on Inside Forward, Right Mid on Winger. Having a winger on the right creates width, which is crucial.
Defensive 4-2-3-1: The Game-Sealer
This is my more defensively minded formation. I go into this when I'm winning and looking to hang on, especially if they start putting pressure on.
- Defensive Approach: 61 (lowest depth)
- Build Up Play: Short Passing
- Team Shape: Two CDMs. You want players who can pass well and are very good at tackling.
- Midfield: Left Mid on Inside Forward and Balanced, Right Mid on Inside Forward and Balanced. If there's space out wide, I'll switch them to Winger.
- CAM: Playmaker and Balanced.
- Striker: Advanced Forward.
4-1-3-2: The Wild Card
This is the 4-1-3-2. I absolutely love this formation. I actually got my highest rank in Weekend League with this formation. It's quite attacking, and I like to call it a wild card.
- Defensive Approach: Balanced
- Build Up Play: Balanced
- Team Shape: Two center backs on Defender and Defend, both fullbacks on Fullback Defend, CDM on Holding and Defend.
- Midfield: Center Mid on Playmaker, Left Mid on Inside Forward, Right Mid on Winger.
- Strikers: Left Striker on False Nine, Right Striker on Advanced Forward.
4-4-1-1 (100 Depth): The Comeback Kid
This is my 4-4-1-1 with 100 depth. I go into this exclusively when I'm losing. It's a last-ditch attempt to get back in the game, and it's super effective.
- Defensive Approach: 100 Depth
- Build Up Play: Balanced
- Team Shape: Two center backs on Defender and Defend, both fullbacks on Wing Back and Balanced.
- Midfield: Center CM on Playmaker and Balanced, Left CM on Playmaker, Right CM on Inside Forward.
- Striker: Advanced Forward and Attack.
