Alright YouTube, we're back, and a brand new patch has just dropped! This update brought some major changes to custom tactics, including brand new player roles. I've incorporated a few of these new roles into my 442 custom tactics, and I'm absolutely loving them. They're really amazing!

Formation and Custom Tactics

The formation we're diving into today is the 442. In my humble expert opinion, it's the best fullback formation on the game, and quite possibly the best formation period. The 4213 and the 4411 are very, very close to it as well.

Here's the code for the custom tactics, which you can also find in the top pinned comment below:

  • Formation: 442 Flat
  • Build Up Play: Balanced
  • Defensive Approach: Aggressive (I personally use this, but I wouldn't really recommend it for everyone. If you're just starting out, try balanced.)
    • Line Height: 50-60 (This depends on your comfort level with defending. If you're confident, go higher. If you're struggling, stick to the lower end.)

Player Roles

Now, let's get into the player roles. This is where the magic happens!

  • Left Striker: False Nine. I love having one striker on a false nine in a two-striker formation.
  • Right Striker: Advanced Forward and Support. This is the key! The "support" focus makes this striker make runs from deeper or wider positions and press the defenders. I've been using this a lot, and it's amazing. I think it's the best thing you can use on a striker in FC25.
  • Left Midfielder & Right Midfielder: Inside Forward. This makes them pick up positions in the number 10 role, which is great for power shots and trivelas.
  • Left Center Midfielder: Box to Box and Balanced. They'll get forward and help out in both attack and defense. Box to box is probably the best thing you can use on a center midfielder this year.
  • Right Center Midfielder: Playmaker and Attack. This midfielder will really push forward and help out a lot in the attacking third.
  • Left Back & Right Back: Wing Back and Support. This is the big change! They will only venture forward when you are attacking.
  • Center Backs: Defender and Balanced. Simple and effective.
  • Goalkeeper: Balanced Focus. The goalkeeper will occasionally leave their area to collect long or loose balls.

That's the setup, YouTube!
