Alright, what's up, guys? Jambo here, and I'm getting bombarded with the same question: "Jambo, what formation and tactics should I be using?" Well, I'm here to help you out! Let's dive into what's been working for me. I'm still learning the game, but this is what's been getting me some decent results. Let's get into it!
Formation and General Tactics
So, I'm currently running with the 4-3-3 attack. The formations this year are a lot more fluid and flexible because of the new player roles. I'm not switching formations mid-game, as it can mess up the player roles.
- Build Up Play: I'm using "Counter" on the build-up style. It's not about being negative; it's about quick transitions from defense to attack, getting those runs in behind.
- Depth: I'm using 60 depth. I tried a higher depth, but it felt like my defenders weren't tracking runs, or I was just bad at defending, either way, 60 depth feels better.
Player Roles and Instructions
Now, let's break down the player roles. This is where things get interesting, and it can look a bit weird on the tactics screen, but trust me, it works!
- Striker: Advanced Forward. I'm trying to replicate the "stay central, get in behind" from previous years.
- Left Forward: Inside Forward (Nico Williams). He's cutting inside and playing almost like a second striker.
- Right Forward: Winger (Doku). Gotta maximize his pace and dribbling, so I'm having him stay wide and look for cutbacks.
- Left Midfielder: Shadow Striker (Neymar). This role is genuinely insane! He makes overlapping runs, even passing Jesus, and he sits in the hole and links the play, but he's also getting into a lot of scoring positions.
- Central Midfielder: Playmaker (Odegaard). I'm not sure if this is the best, but it's what I'm using. If a player has a "plus plus" in a position, they seem to play better.
- Defensive Midfielder: Deep Line Playmaker (Pedri). This is my stay-back midfielder. Because Pedri is good on the ball and passing, the Deep Line Playmaker suits him better than the holding role.
- Fullbacks: Balanced. I want that traditional stay-back fullback for now while I'm learning the game.
- Right Back: Balanced (Llorente)
- Left Back: Defend (Balde)
- Center Backs: Defender (Defend). Anything other than this, and they step up and go out of position, which I don't like.
Hopefully, this helps you guys out! Let me know if you have any questions.
