Alright, what's up guys, it's Ley here, and welcome to a brand new video on the team channel. Today, we're diving deep into the 4-4-1-1 formation in EA FC 24. It's a popular choice right now, and for good reason – it's pretty meta. Let's get into it!
Tactics Breakdown: The 4-4-1-1 Blueprint
First things first, let's get the preset set up. We're going with the 4-4-1-1, obviously.
- Build Up Play: Balanced.
- Defensive Style: Balanced.
- Depth: 60.
Now, let's move on to the player roles.
- Goalkeeper: Just the standard "Goalkeeper" role. No changes here.
- Right Back: Fullback and Balanced. Again, nothing fancy.
- Center Backs: Defender and Defend. Standard stuff.
- Left Back: Fullback and Balanced.
- Right Center Mid: Holding and Defend. This is your more defensive midfielder.
- Left Center Mid: Playmaker. This is where you want a player with good passing and vision. The Playmaker Plus+ role is perfect here.
- Left Mid & Right Mid: Winger and Balanced. They'll stay wide, but they'll also be involved in the attack. They're always in the right position to start a counterattack or build up play. Wingers are key in this formation. You could try Inside Forwards, but I prefer Wingers.
- Shadow Striker: This is the key to the formation. They're the link between midfield and attack. They'll be involved in the build-up play, but they'll also act as a second striker when you get into the box.
- Striker: Advanced Forward. This is the best role for your strikers, especially if they have a good finishing trait.
The 4-4-1-1 is a well-balanced formation, both going forward and in defense.
Attacking Prowess: Unleashing the Meta
This formation is meta because you can play the L1/LB + Triangle/Y first-time passes. You can play on the wing, build up calmly, and launch counterattacks. The L1/LB + Triangle/Y first-time pass works really well.
You basically have two strikers with the striker and the shadow striker, and it's so good this year to combine between the two. When you have space, go for it! Turn, try to use some skill moves, turn away from the defender, and shoot. This formation suits every play style. You can play slow, you can play counter-attack, you can press high up the pitch.
The Winger player role makes me able to cross from my right winger to my left winger. They will be in the right position. Overall, this formation in attack is really good. You have a lot of different patterns. It's not so predictable. If you just trigger the right players at the right time, you will always have four people forward. Your Center mid will be involved as well. I have one on playmaker, so he will make runs forward and the other will be sitting around the box to be able to play the ball to him. So this formation basically has everything you need attacking wise.
Defensive Solidity: A Brick Wall in Action
The 4-4-1-1 is a great formation to press high up the pitch. You have four attackers, and it's so hard for your opponent to play through the midfield because you have your two Center mids and your CAM right there, always aggressive. You have to switch manually, but they're always there looking to press your opponent.
When you get the ball from the press, your Striker will always be there, available to go for the quick counter. Most times, one or maybe even two passes, and you're in a one-on-one with the goalkeeper – easy goal. That's something that makes this formation different to, for example, 5-2-1-2 or 4-1-2-1-2, where you're defending in a narrow formation. It will be really hard to pressure the wings. That's a really big win for this formation.
When your opponent is building up slow, you may need to switch a lot. Sit back, you always have eight players back, and basically, if you manually track your CAM back, you have 10 players back, including the goalkeeper. Only your Striker will stay up front, but it just looks like a brick wall. It's so solid.
