Alright, let's dive into these killer attacking tactics, straight from the playbook of pro player Levy DED. This is the stuff that'll get you back in the game when you're down and need to claw your way back to victory. Remember, this is a comeback tactic, not something you'd run from minute one.
Formation and Instructions
We're going with the 41212 narrow. Here's the code, which is case-sensitive, so make sure you get it right.
- Build Up Play: Counter. We want to transition quickly and commit numbers forward. If you lose the ball 25-30 yards from your goal, your team will be all over the place. Think two or three steps ahead when playing out from the back.
- Defensive Style: 75 Depth. I always run a higher line, 60 and above. We want to compact the play, make it difficult for the opponent to play out.
Player Roles
Now, let's get into the player roles.
- Goalkeeper: Default, just Goalkeeper and Defend.
- Fullbacks: Balanced on both sides. They give us an out ball and width.
- Important Note: This is where things get tricky. If you run attacking wingbacks, your center backs will move out to cover the wingback position, leaving a gap in the middle. The opponent can then easily exploit this with a through ball to their striker.
- Solution: I've found that running a CDM on "Center Half Defend" helps stop this. When we have the ball, the CDM moves in as a center back. If the opponent wins the ball and tries to transition, the CDM is there to help.
- Center Midfielders: Playmaker and Attack on both. We're trying to get goals, so we need to commit those numbers forward. They will roam and give you passing opportunities.
- Center Attacking Mid: Shadow Striker.
- Strikers: Advanced Forward on both. We want to punish a high defensive line and look for those runs in behind.
When to Use This Tactic
I've been testing this tactic and use it alongside my normal 442. I switch to this when I'm down, say 2-1 in the 60th-65th minute. If I'm 3-1 down, I'll switch to my 424.
