Alright, let's dive into this tactical setup, yeah? It's early days in FC25, so we're all figuring things out. Don't be afraid to experiment, use your own brain, and try different formations. We're going to break down a 4-3-3 (Attack) setup that's been working well for me.
Squad Selection and Formation
First, let's talk about the squad. I've built this team with specific roles in mind. Remember, it's all about finding what works for you.
- Right Center Back: I'm using Dump Freeze here, essentially playing as a right center back. Ideally, you want someone capable of handling that role. Don't put a small right back there; you'll have problems. You can flip this to the left side if you prefer.
- Left Back: I've been using DeMarco. He's an attacking wing-back, which is what I want. He has the "Attacking Wing Back+" play style, giving him an advantage in movement. Look for players with multiple play styles to maximize their effectiveness.
- Center Backs: Standard center backs.
- Center Mids: I'm using Lorente and Thora. In a 4-3-3 (Attack), you want players comfortable on the ball. One should be more physical and defensively minded. Thora fits that role for me, even though he doesn't have the specific role I'd ideally want. Lorente plays as a Deep Line Playmaker. I'm still debating whether to prioritize the role or a better player without it.
- Front Three: Jota, Diabi, and Thora.
- CAM: Hami.
Tactics
Now, let's get into the tactics. This is a 4-3-3 (Attack) formation.
- Build Up Play: Balanced. I don't want to commit to a heavy play style. Balanced gives me the best of both worlds: I can counter, or I can play short passes.
- Depth: 57. Find a depth that you're comfortable with. Don't worry about the rest until you've got that dialed in.
- Without Ball: This is where the magic happens. The biggest tip I can give you is to pull your wingers back defensively. When you don't have the ball, they'll sit in the right wing position and won't help defend. This makes it difficult for the opponent to break down your defense.
Player Instructions
Here's how the team sets up in-game when we have the ball:
- Formation Shift: We essentially move into a three-back formation. Dump Freeze tucks in, creating a back three.
- Sweeper Keeper: I recommend using a sweeper keeper. Over-the-top through balls are very strong this year, and a sweeper keeper can get there.
- Center Mids:
- Thora: Right defensive mid on "Hold and Defend." This is your defensive midfielder, your Kanté or Vieira.
- Lorente: Also on "Defend." This is crucial. Having your center mids on "Defend" is very important in FC25. It helps break up counterattacks. You can manually get them involved in the attack if you want.
- Left Back: DeMarco. He's an attacking wing-back and will offer width. I look for over-the-top through balls from Hami to the left side.
- Right Winger: Diabi is on "Balanced." He's there to receive passes and make runs. I use creative runs to get him involved.
- CAM: Hami is on "Playmaker+." This gives him the ability to move around and find space.
- Left Winger: Inside Forward. They play as a second striker and support Thora. This is really helpful.
- Striker: Advanced Forward. I also like "Poacher" as an option.
Customization
Do you have to copy every single player role? Not necessarily.
- Inside Forward: Yes, you need someone up there helping your striker.
- Other Roles: If you have a player with a "Shadow Striker" play style, that could work. If your winger has a "Playmaker" play style, that might be fine.
- Prioritize Play Styles: Prioritize the play styles where you can. If your right winger doesn't have any play styles because of the position, that's fine.
This setup works well for me. We attack down the left side mainly. Over-the-top through balls are really helpful. It's quick on the counter, can play into feet, and can play in behind. It's also decent at dealing with counterattacks because of those two defensive midfielders. Give it a go!
