Top 4 Meta Formations in FC25
Here are the top four formations that are absolutely cooking right now in FC25.
Number 4: The 4-3-3
Starting off at number four is the 4-3-3. This is a simple, reliable formation. I actually did a video on this yesterday, so I won't go into too much detail.
- Tactics: Balanced on the buildup style, with 61 depth on the defensive approach.
- Player Roles:
- Left Winger and Right Winger: Inside Forward and Attack.
- Striker: Advanced Forward and Attack.
- CAM: Playmaker and Balanced.
- Left Central Midfielder: Holding and Defend.
- Right Central Midfielder: Box to Box.
- Left Back and Right Back: Wing Back and Balanced.
- Center Backs: Ball Playing Defenders.
- Goalkeeper: Sweeper Keeper and Balanced.
Number 3: The 4-4-2
Next up, at number three, is the 4-4-2. I absolutely love this formation.
- Tactics: Balanced on the buildup style, with 61 depth on the defensive approach.
- Player Roles:
- Strikers: Advanced Forward and Attack.
- Left Midfielder: Winger and Attack.
- Right Midfielder: Inside Forward and Balanced.
- Right Central Midfielder: Holding and Defend.
- Left Central Midfielder: Playmaker and Attack (lots of license to get forward).
- Left Back: Wing Back and Balanced.
- Center Backs: Ball Playing Defenders and Defend.
- Right Back: Fullback and Balanced.

Number 2: The 4-2-3-1 (Narrow)
Now, we're getting to the good stuff. The second most meta formation in FC25 right now, in my humble opinion, is the 4-2-3-1 with the three CAMs. This formation is amazing this year, it's meta, broken, overpowered – whatever word you want to use, it is that in the game, believe you me!
- Tactics: Balanced on the buildup style, with 61 depth.
- Player Roles:
- Striker: Advanced Forward and Attack.
- Middle CAM: Playmaker and Balanced (free role).
- Left CAM and Right CAM: Half Winger and Attack.
- CDMs: Holding and Defend.
- Left Back and Right Back: Wing Back and Balanced.
- Center Backs: Defender and Defend.
- Goalkeeper: Sweeper Keeper.
Number 1: The 5-4-1
And finally, the number one meta formation. If you've watched any pro gameplay, you probably saw this coming: it's the 5-4-1. I hate to even say it, I hate promoting this, but the 5-4-1 is just flat-out the most meta, broken, overpowered formation this year. I hate it, but I'd be lying to you if I said otherwise.
- Tactics: Balanced on the buildup style, but with a defensive approach of 71 depth (because it's a back five).
- Player Roles:
- Striker: Advanced Forward and Attack.
- Left Midfielder and Right Midfielder: Inside Forward and Attack (creating a 3-4-2-1 in attack).
- Left Wing Back and Right Wing Back: Attacking Wing Back and Attack.
- Right Central Midfielder: Box to Box.
- Left Central Midfielder: Playmaker and Attack (more license to get forward).
- Center Backs: Ball Playing Defenders and Defend.
- Goalkeeper: Sweeper Keeper and Balanced.
