Alright, YouTube, we're back! Weekend League is here, and you know what that means: I'm dropping the best custom tactics and formation you can use. But before we dive in, smash that like button, drop a comment, and if you haven't already, hit that subscribe button – it means the world to me! So, without further ado, let's get into it.
Formation and Build-Up
The formation we're looking at is the 4-4-2 flat, the one with two central midfielders. This is the big game changer: I'm using Counter on the build-up style. Yes, you heard that right! Counter is very good this year, and in the 4-4-2, it just works. It's the best thing you can use in the 4-4-2, in my opinion. Balanced is good, but Counter is your bread and butter.
For the defensive line, I've gone up to 70 on the line height. I like to be aggressive with my 4-4-2. It's a very good defensive formation, so we can afford to be aggressive when pressing.
Player Roles
Now, let's talk player roles. This is where we really make the formation sing.
- Right Striker: Advanced Forward and Attack. You want your quickest player here, the one who can make those runs in behind.
- Left Striker: False Nine. This is a big change. The left striker will play a bit deeper, so have a player who's comfortable on the ball and can thread through balls. Still, a quick player is good, but someone agile like Sophia Smith in that role really works wonders.
- Left Midfielder & Right Midfielder: Inside Forward and Balanced. This is key! A wide attacker who starts on the wing but cuts inside onto their preferred foot to shoot or play the final pass. They tend to run in behind the defense. It helps me attack and create opportunities in the 4-4-2.
- Right Central Midfielder: Box to Box and Balanced. Box to Box is a very good player role this year, especially with two central midfielders.
- Left Central Midfielder: Playmaker and Roaming. The left central midfielder will go out and look for the ball. I absolutely love this!
- Left Back & Right Back: Wing Back and Balanced. They provide width as the left and right midfielders make runs inside. Very overpowered and broken!
- Defenders: Defender. Simple and effective. I'm not interested in the Plus+ with FC25 AI IQ. Use the player role you want, and as long as the player can play that position, you'll be fine.
- Goalkeeper: Goalkeeper.
That, YouTube, is my brand new, updated 4-4-2 custom tactics video for you. Use it this weekend, trust me, it will help you out tenfold.
