Alright guys, let's dive into some custom tactics that you can use at the start of FC25 to help you get a grip on the new game. If you haven't already, make sure you check out the previous video where I explained how formations and custom tactics work in FC25. It'll make this all a lot clearer, trust me!
Formation and Player Roles
First things first, don't sweat it if your players don't have the "plus" roles. It's early in the game cycle, and not everyone will have a stacked squad. For example, a player like MT might not perfectly fit this formation, but most players will be just fine.
For this tactic, we're going with the 4-2-2-2 formation. It's all about opening up the right side and congesting the left side to create attacking opportunities.
Here's the breakdown of the player roles:
- Left Striker: False Nine (build-up)
- Right Striker: Advanced Forward (attack)
- Right Attacking Mid: Shadow Striker (attack)
- Left Attacking Mid: Half Winger Plus or Half Winger (attack)
- Both CDMs: Holding and Roaming (helps with build-up play)
- Right Back: Wing Back (balanced)
- Left Back: Wing Back (balanced)
Custom Tactics Setup
Now, let's get into the custom tactics themselves. I'll be leaving the code and a link to the tactic in the comments below. Make sure you use both! Just go into your game, select "Use Code," and enter the exact digits, case-sensitive.
Here's the key setup:
- Build Up Play: Short Passing
- Line Height: 45 (Balance) - Important: Double-check this, as it doesn't always update correctly. You might need to manually adjust it in-game.
This setup allows for a comfortable defensive shape, as I mentioned in the previous video, and then this is what it looks like when you are actually attacking.
In-Game Movement and Instructions
I prefer to let the team's movement come naturally, but for those who like a detailed explanation, here's how the team should move in-game:
- Right Attacking Mid: Dips underneath the right striker and next to the false nine left striker.
- Left Attacking Mid: Comes shorter to provide balance.
- CDMs: Get between passing lanes and are more aggressive at defending.
- Right Striker: Goes out as a forward attacker.
- Left Back: Assists in attack and plays back.
- Right Back: Holds general position.
Remember to check the specific instructions for each player. For example, the wing backs will have the "Wing Back Plus" role, which enhances their effectiveness.
Player Selection and Squad Building
When building your squad, aim for players with the "plus" or "plus plus" versions of the roles. If you're new to the game and your players only have the basic roles, that's perfectly fine. Don't worry too much about it at the start of the year.
I'm planning to build a cheap 50k squad and go from there. What I like about this formation is that the build-up play makes sense. I tend to utilize the right side a lot because of the shadow striker role.
For the shadow striker role, you want an attack-minded midfielder who plays in the hole between the strikers. Players like Bellingham are great for this role. Remember, the shadow striker role is attack-focused.
Gameplay Tips
In this year's game, you'll need to utilize player locking, but you'll definitely have to utilize a lot of the L1 R1 Taps to create scoring opportunities. I might do a tutorial for that as well for people that are interested in seeing how that actually ends up playing in game if they notice that they're attacking AI isn't performing the way that they would like.
Highlights
Here are some highlights of how the team generally plays in game:
- Utilize L1/R1 taps to move players and open up space.
- Take the ball in one direction and then go the other.
- Utilize skill moves to create space.
Alright, that's the 4-2-2-2 breakdown. Hopefully, you guys enjoyed this introduction. Be sure to check out the original tactic, the code will be linked with the tactic and I'll show you guys the goals and see you guys in the next video. Peace out dudes love you guys.
