Alright, what's up, YouTube! Here's my first set of custom tactics for you on FC25, and it's a formation that I've been absolutely loving.
Formation: The Classic 4-4-2
Let's get straight to it: the formation I'm using is the good old, bog-standard 4-4-2. I've had so much success with this in Draft and Rivals, and it's been a blast.
Custom Tactics Breakdown
Here's a breakdown of the custom tactics I'm using with the 4-4-2:
- Tactical Preset: Custom
- Build Up Play: Balanced. I've been experimenting, but I've found that balanced is the sweet spot. It allows for a steady transition and avoids the issues I have with other options.
- Defensive Approach: Manual adjusted line, set to 61. This is similar to last year's defensive depth, giving us a bit more aggression without being overly aggressive.
Player Roles: The Key to Success
This is where things get interesting. Let's dive into the player roles:
- Strikers: Both my left-sided and right-sided strikers are set to Advanced Forward and Attack. This is similar to having both strikers on "Stay Central and Get in Behind" last year. It's a classic setup that works wonders. You could experiment with a False 9, but I prefer the Advanced Forward approach.
- Left Midfielder: Winger and Attack. I want this player hugging the touchline, providing width and offensive support.
- Left Central Midfielder: Playmaker and Attack. This allows them to get forward and support the attack.
- Right Central Midfielder: Holding. This provides defensive support, making us more defensively solid. You could also use Box to Box here, but I prefer the defensive stability.
- Right Midfielder: Inside Forward and Balanced. This allows them to cut inside and create chances.
- Right Back: Fullback and Balanced.
- Center Backs: Both are Ball Playing Defenders and Defend. I want them to focus on defending and keeping things solid at the back.
- Left Back: Wing Back. This provides attacking support down the left side, overloading that flank.
- Goalkeeper: Sweeper Keeper. Even if your keeper doesn't have the "plus" sign, use this. It helps with those balls over the top.
Final Thoughts
So, that's my current setup. These tactics might change as I get more used to the game, but this is what's working for me right now. Let me know in the comments what formations you're enjoying and if there are any you'd like me to try out.
