What's going on, guys? No guys here! Today's video, we're going over the best tactics you can use right now. Sorry for the slight delay; I didn't want to rush something out just for the sake of it. That's why I waited.
Disclaimers and the "Ferrari" Analogy
First, a couple of disclaimers. This year, it's not about one meta tactic that rules all. It depends on the players you have and the system you're using. This is going to help you a lot, seriously! If I have a poacher like Son, I could give you a tactic with a striker and a poacher, but if my Son has an attacking forward, you may need to change it. Even if someone gives you a code, you're going to need to tinker with it depending on your players, unless you're copying a team like for like.
Think of it like this: Imagine the tactic system this year is like buying a Ferrari. You just got the car, you take it out of the showroom, you want to put your foot down and test it, but you're just on the inside roads, taking your time, going slow. Wait until you get on the motorway, then put your foot down. That's the approach you want to take. Go slow, try things out.
The 4-4-2 Formation: A Solid Foundation
This tactic defends in a 4-4-2 and attacks in a 4-4-2 with one player joining the midfield. We're playing with a false back, and the Evo for the false back Plus+ is the best player to use.
- Build-up Play: Balanced. I'm leaning towards counter systems this year because players make runs behind, but I've gone for balanced for now.
- Defensive Approach: The depth is set to 59. When you put this to 60 or above, your team doesn't track runs as much. If you're getting caught in behind, reduce the depth.
Player Roles and Instructions
- Strikers: Poacher (Swanson) and Striker (Son). The idea is for the strikers to make runs in behind.
- Central Midfielders: Tanali on holding and Dong on playmaker. If you're using this formation for the first time, I strongly recommend a holding card with the Plus or Plus Plus playstyle. The CDM variation is better because those players sit deeper.
- Wingers: Inside Forward (Left and Right Mid). The left and right mids are going to be going and helping inside the pitch. Finesses are still very OP, so are cutbacks.
- Defenders:
- Center Backs: Defender. I know I like ball-playing center backs, but it's too risky right now.
- Left Back: Fullback Defend.
- Right Back: False Back Plus. This is mainly for the evolution. If you don't have someone with pace, you could go for a fullback defend or just keep the team as a 4-4-2.
Key Gameplay Mechanics and Tips
- Left Stick Dribbling: It's abysmal. You're going to have to create the third player, add an extra player in the midfield.
- Player Positioning: Make sure the players in the correct roles. It doesn't need to be a role plus, but you can't put someone out of position in those roles.
- Defensive Width: You have a bit more space, so finesse shots and cutbacks are the way to go.
- Pace is Key: If you're using a false back, make sure the right-side back has pace to recover.
Variations and Experimentation
- Attacking Wing Back: You can create width by using an attacking wing back. This can create a 3-2-5 system.
- 4-4-2 Variations: You can have a fullback defend on one side and an attacking wing back on the other.
Final Thoughts
Keep things basic, trust me. Give yourself a couple of days to play with what you already know, maybe fine-tune things here and there. Then, you can start changing things. Remember, it depends on what players you have. I'll have more tactics videos coming out every week.
