What's going on everyone? My name is O, and welcome to a new FC25 tutorial! Today, we're diving into the new 4-3-2-1 formation. The fellas, the boys, found a way to bring it back, and we've got it here with specific tactics and instructions. Let's get into it!
Formation and Setup
First things first, you'll need to start with a 4-5-1 formation. We're going to do some swapping around to get that classic 4-3-2-1 feel. Remember, what made the 4-3-2-1 so good? You had the right back or left back on "Stay Back While Attacking," the other fullback joining the attack, creating an overload on that side. You could switch play easily, making it almost impossible for your opponent to defend. You'll see the left back pushing forward, playing as a left mid, a left forward dropping a bit to create a triangle with the box-to-box CM, and then two strikers pushing forward. This gives you a lot of manpower up front.
Tactics
Let's get directly into the tactics.
- Build Up Play: Balanced is the way to go. I still remember direct passes forward runs from previous refs.
- Defensive Approach: I've found that 65 is a bit more stable.
- Player Roles: This is how you defend. You'll have one striker, and then you'll stay in a 4-5-1. Once you go forward, things change.
Player Instructions
Here's a breakdown of the player instructions:
- Fullback (Right Back): Balanced.
- Center Backs: Defender. Defender is the best.
- Left Back: Attacking Wing Back.
- Central Midfielders:
- Box to Box.
- Playmaker.
- Left Forward: Inside Forward. This is key to making space for the left back to push forward.
- Strikers: Advanced Forward.
- Inside Forward.
Attacking Dynamics
When you attack, it's like a 4-4-2 offensive. It's crazy good! It's more like a 3-5-2. The playmaker and the box-to-box CM are your two defensive players.
- Wingers vs. Inside Forwards: If you play a winger, it blocks the left back. An inside forward clears the path for the left back on that side.
Key Gameplay Mechanics
- Trivela Shots: Trivela shots work very well this season. The right CM will play the position of a right midfielder that cuts inside, a right attacking midfielder that cuts inside, and you'll be able to do trivela shots with him from that side. They're so broken! I expect a patch because I think half of the goals that I'm scoring at this moment are trivela shots.
- Finesse Shots: If your inside forward has the Finesse Shot trait, you're golden. You're going to cut inside with him and get into those positions. Either a right-footed player that can cut inside and do finesse shots at the far post or a left-footed player here that also cuts inside and does trivelas. If you can squeeze over there a left-footed player that is even better because TRV is at this moment better then the finess shots there.
There you have it, boys! The 4-3-2-1 is back!
